Squalane

Squalane is a stabilized version of squalene, a lipid your skin's own sebum already contains naturally. That relationship is what makes squalane so biocompatible, skin recognizes it instantly and knows exactly how to use it. As an emollient, it locks in moisture, restores suppleness, and delivers fatty acids that help replenish skin, all while feeling remarkably light rather than greasy, despite its similarity to natural oil.

Squalane also reinforces the skin barrier, which lowers the odds of sensitivity or reactivity, and it functions as an antioxidant in its own right. That antioxidant activity protects the skin's natural oils from lipid peroxidation, a damaging process that affects both the surface of the skin and the deeper lining of pores where oil is produced, and which is also thought to play a role in acne.
